Why cut adverbs?
An adverb often does a job the verb should be doing. “Walked slowly” is “strolled”. “Said loudly” is “shouted”. The stronger verb is shorter and more exact.
Other adverbs add nothing. “Really important” says no more than “important”, and “very” rarely earns its place.
